In July 2010, RuralAus Investments Limited purchased the former assets of SFM Australasia Pty Ltd which comprised approximately 3,400 hectares of land on Kangaroo Island, South Australia of which approximately 2,200 hectares is planted with harvestable pine plantation of varying ages, quality and management practices. Included in the transaction, was the Timber Creek Sawmill located at Parndana on Kangaroo Island.
In lieu of a woodchip export facility on Kangaroo Island, RuralAus Investments Limited has taken a proactive approach to realise an economic return for all plantation resource on Kangaroo Island.
RuralAus intends to commence harvesting and exporting of softwood logs of Kangaroo Island with the short-term goal to refurbish the sawmill at Parndana. Refurbishment took place during September 2011 to December 2011, with the green mill now being fully operational, albeit still at a trial milling stage.
The following pictures are of the mill and finished products:

By achieving this RuralAus is committed to the social and economic viability for the community of Kangaroo Island through employment and investment opportunities that these operations will create.
